Year 12 student, Paula Fungaloka, has been selected as a winner of one of five national outsranding student leadership awards in the National Project K Awards held at Government House in Auckland on Thursday 14 October.

It was an amazing celebration at Government House in the presence of many famous New Zealanders. Paula was asked to present a speech on his life experiences. To conclude his speech he entertained the audience with a beautiful song.

The Project K programme aims to maximise youth potential through building self-confidence and teaching life skills such as goal setting, self-reliance and team work. The 14-month programme is run in three stages: a three-week Wilderness Adventure, ten-day Community Challenge and 12 months of Project K Mentoring.

The Awards honour and celebrate top students from colleges across the country.

The finalists are selected for their effort and excellence during the programme. In particular, for showing independence, responsibility and success in setting and achieving goals, as well as initiative in the mentoring partnership and commitment to the aims and objectives of the Project K programme.
