OTHC Interact Club 2020July 27, 2020
The college’s Interact Club which is a part of the Rotary Clubs of New Zealand initiative aimed at promoting leadership skills in our country’s young citizens, met with Penrose Rotarians recently. Led by the school's coordinator, Ms Bodman, the club’s leadership team was given the opportunity to have breakfast with their sponsors - the Penrose Rotary Club. Throughout the gathering, the Rotarians and Interact Club representatives, Bree Felton, Maia de Haas and Arran Given, discussed their future plans for the group coming out of lockdown, and gave the Rotarians their considered opinions and reflections after their involvement in RYPEN (a Rotary leadership programme for Interact Club students across the nation).
Interact Club, Vice President, Maia de Haas commented on the morning. "It was great to be able to speak and connect with our sponsors. They are really, really supportive people." Both students and Rotarians greatly appreciated the morning, with President of the Penrose Rotary Club, Ms Ann Dunphy reflecting enthusiastically. "The assembled Rotarians were hugely impressed with the commitment and leadership qualities shown by these young people. It was a wonderful presentation." The meeting was a great success, and allowed both groups to unite with one another.
