Once again, the One Tree Hill College Senior Girls Softball team went through the season undefeated becoming Auckland Champions.  At the Auckland tournament, the team played five games during the day including the semi-final against Westlake Girl’s High School before an exciting final against Mount Albert Grammar School which was won in a close fought contest. This Auckland success was soon followed by the participation of the team in the 2021 Secondary School Softball Division 1 National Championships held at Prince Edward Ballpark, in Papakura. This was a five day tournament which involved playing teams from all over New Zealand. Close games ensured throughout the week with the team gaining enough points to make it into the finals against Hamilton Girls High School.

A big crowd of supporters witnessed the final, which turned out to be a very intense game of softball. Unfortunately, OTHC lost the final being beaten 6-4. The game ended spectacularly with the team having two runners on base at the bottom of the seventh innings but being unable to bring them home. Manager, Mr Faunt reflected on a very successful season, “We are proudly of this extremely young team who have an incredibly bright future as they will be together for the next 2-3 years. They did well to win the Auckland title and come runner-up in the Nationals.”
