Trade Events Evening 2022

|| October 17, 2022

The Trade Events Evening was held in the OTHC recently. The aim of this evening is to connect students and their whānau with the various trades, providing information and opportunities about opportunities with our community trades people. The outcome for our technology students is to provide a pathway for their future careers in the trades industry. This evening is a collaboration between the Technology Faculty, local industry under the auspicious of the Gateway Programme run by the Careers Department. The Gateway Programme helps students to acquire more knowledge about the trade industry by allowing students to work outside the school to gain experience in the trade that they are interested in. They visit sites one day a week for a ten week period.

This was a great evening, being very informative as it was easy for both students and parents to get information about going into the trades. Technology teacher Ms Gibson, who helped organize this event said, "We are very grateful for the ongoing support from BCITO, our Gateway partners which also includes Insite Facades. We also thank our trade partners AEG and Bunnings who continue to give our students the opportunities and tools that support them in transitioning into the trades". Thanks to Ms Gibson and the Technology staff for organising this great evening.
