Meet the Parents 2021

|| March 16, 2021

For parents, their children’s education is one of their greatest concerns, especially when their child is first starting their high school journey. It is crucial for them to be aware of the pathway their child will take through this part of their schooling and be familiar with the teachers and leaders who will be guiding them. To inform parents of their child’s future education, One Tree Hill College recently held the Year 9 Information Evening. The purpose of this evening was to help parents (new to the school) understand the educational opportunities One Tree Hill offers to their children as well as giving both parents and students a chance to meet the college’s teachers and senior management. A presentation was given to the parents in the auditorium, which gave an outline of the courses One Tree Hill College offers. This was followed by the parents moving to the various whānau areas where they were addressed by the respective leaders.

A BBQ was then enjoyed by all outside the Kowhai commons, where school staff and parents were able to mix and mingle and further discuss their child’s future at One Tree Hill College All those who attended enjoyed the evening.  Special thanks is given to all the staff members who organized the evening and to the prefect team for guiding the parents and students who attended.  Year 9 Student Lucia Albertengo-Shaw said of the evening, “It was certainly helped for my parents to get to know my teachers as well as making my parents understand what I am learning”.  Principal Mr Coughlan was impressed with the turnout of parents and commented. “A fantastic evening, and great to connect with our community again after a very trying past year. It so pleasing to be able to welcome our new parents and let them know of the wonderful learning environment that we have here at OTHC.”

Another great event at the College.
