Students and staff organised the OTHC Way sausage sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings Mt Wellington, bringing together members of the school and wider community for a great cause. The purpose of the event was to raise money to support the Strive Shop, a school initiative that rewards students for showing/attributing positive behaviour and committing to school values. Funds raised will help keep the Strive Shop running throughout the year. The event was a success, with not only many people coming along to purchase sausages, but it was also a great opportunity for students to connect with others, and the wider community. A highlight of the event was seeing community members bringing their dogs along, which created a fun and lively atmosphere enjoyed by both students and staff. Lisa, one of the students involved, shared her experience. “It was a really positive experience. We sold heaps of sausages, and it was great seeing how kind and supportive the community were with some people even donating their change. It was both fun and rewarding to be part of something that makes a difference for the school.” Abisha, another student involved in the sausage sizzle, also shared her thoughts. “One of the highlights for me was seeing how much the public cared about the cause, with some people even donating without buying anything. The day was definitely a success, with lots of sales and great interactions, and it was a valuable experience that helped build our confidence and social skills.” The money raised will go directly back into supporting students through the Strive Shop, helping to continue encouraging positive behavior within the school.
