As a Year 11 Spanish class, we participated in a Spanish camp with several other schools. It was a three-day camp filled with activities and opportunities to speak Spanish and gain more knowledge about another language. but also the culture and people.

The venue was at Havelock Nth which is in Hawkes Bay. There were over 100 students at the camp. Personally I loved the whole idea of the camp because it was a great opportunity for the students to continue to deve4lope and consolidate their Spanish with the natives that came to help.

It was also an awesome opportunity to compare your learning and level of Spanish with other students from across the country to see how good we really were. It was cool to see how the other teachers from different schools taught their classes as each teacher had their own different and unique style of teaching their students. All of the students were immersed into the language and culture and it was such a brilliant sight to see and feel as well because I believe that is far the best way to learn another language.

The whole camp offered great learning developments activities such as cooking eating dancing, interacting games and presentat5ionds and lastly a fashion show with a social to celebrate this weekend of learning. This camp allowed students to become more confident with themselves and working with other people as we realized that we were all on the same team, learning and going through the same experience…. so together we pushed through and supported each other the whole way.
