One Tree Hill College 1st XI Football 2017

The 1st XI Football team played their final league game of the season this evening. Playing against a strong Howick team who has already secure 3rd place in the table, OTHC needed a win to finish 1st in the league and secure promotion to the A2 division next season. A draw or a loss meant that the team were dependent on the result of the Northcote – Botany game which was also being played at the same time at Northcote. After taking an early lead, OTHC then conceded 2 goals and trailed 1-2 with 5 minutes to play. In a frantic last 5 minutes, OTHC equalised and pushed for a winning goal to secure promotion. The game finished 2-2, however due to the end result from the Northcote - Botany game, OTHC were able to secure their place in A2 for 2018. OTHC have been promoted for the second time in the same season after securing promotion to A3 in the play–off game at the beginning of the season. This is a remarkable achievement for the team.
