12PES Wero Whitewater Park

|| October 13, 2025

As part of their studies the 12PES class visited the Wero Whitewater Park in Manukau. The students found that the trip as well as being lots of fun was an amazing experience. As well as experiencing the excitement of white-water rafting, they also learnt how a raft works and more importantly (the major aim of the exercise), how a team is supposed to work together to make an outcome successful. The guides that helped the students throughout this experience were very kind and made sure to make the explanations fun and understandable to all of the students. “The guide on our raft made sure that we understood what he was saying, and he also made sure that we all felt safe,” said one student. They found the water cold at first and took a bit of getting used to but this was forgotten with the many activities, they became involved in. “Before and after each round of going down the rough stretch of water our guide made us do a cheer with our paddles. I think he did it to calm our nerves, not sure though. Maybe it was also just for the fun of it, because why not, you know,” said another student. The students commented that the experience was so much fun, and they hoped that in year 13 there would be another trip like this, or at least something similar.
