Glory Laulala Athletics Champs

Over the Term 1 holidays, Year 10 student Glory Laulala had a busy time participating in two athletics tournaments.

The North Island Championships took place in Taranaki where Glory took part in Hurdles, Shot Put and Discus events.

She did extremely well, placing in the top 5 in three events.

North Island Championships final results:

5th overall 70m hurdles with a time of 12.47s

5th overall Shot Put with a throw of 10.47 metres

2nd overall Discus with a throw of 28.7 metres

The second tournament Glory took part in was the Athletics Nationals, held in Masterton.

Her results again were outstanding and Glory was able to beat her personal best in Discus and Hurdles.

Athletics Nationals final results:

1st overall Discus with winning throw of 35.7 metres (new PB)

3rd overall Shot Put with a throw of 10.96 metres

6th overall in 80m Hurdles with a time of 13.72s (new PB)

2nd overall in her category of 13 girls for the whole tournament

Glory also received the Medal for Most Improved Female Athlete  at the Counties Manukau Athletics Prize-giving.

These are amazing achievements and the school is incredibly proud to see Glory reaping the benefits of her hard work and dedication across multiple athletics events.
