OTHC Auckland Champions 2023

The senior girls’ softball team are once again supreme winning the recent Auckland Secondary School’s Senior Softball tournament to be crowned Auckland Champions. At the tournament they were required to play six games to reach the final. They went through unbeaten undergoing lots of pressure especially in the first and the last match. During these games they showed resilience no matter the obstacles and were able to perform when they really needed to. They played Avondale College in the final in an exciting game especially as they had to come from behind scoring five runs in the last innings to win 7-5. Co-Captain Loma Weatherley said. “I was happy as when we won especially as for most of us this is our last year at OTHC. We have a very experienced team and all the girls have such good individual skills and we always back each other up. “We’re a very strong side as most of us are club players and also, we have many representative players in the team.” Coach Mr Faunt said, “I am so very proud of the team and want to congratulate each one of them on their victory. I really appreciate the time and effort they have put in and look forward to competing at the National Secondary championship al the way in Christchurch.” The team wish to thank the Coaches Mr Faunt and Ms Murray for all their hard work in preparing them for this win. So, it’s off to Christchurch where OTHC will be competing against the best in New Zealand. “I’m quietly confident going into the Nationals’, said Co-Captain Loma, “we’ve got the talent and we’ve had the hard training to take on New Zealand’s best.”
