One Tree Hill College was excited to welcome many new staff members this year, including some familiar faces who are returning to teach at the school.  “I started at One Tree Hill College in 2010 and worked here for five years and one term before moving to Hong Kong,” Miss Heaton said. “Although I loved my time here, I had always wanted to travel. But New Zealand feels like home, so when the right job opened, I knew it was time to return.” Since coming back to OTHC, she has noticed many changes, including many more students, new classrooms, and updated facilities. “It’s a little strange not seeing some of the old staff, but everyone has been very welcoming. The students are calm, polite, and ready to learn, which makes teaching here really enjoyable.” Dr McCormack-Clarke (new to the school) also shared his positive experience. “The school has a distinct character of care and well-being. Since starting, I’ve really enjoyed teaching the students and have felt very welcomed by the staff. I also applied as I had a connection with the school through my whānau as my wife, mother-in-law and cousin all teach, or have taught, here.” Mr. Coughlan praised the high-quality of new staff members who have chosen to teach at OTHC. “In an environment where great teachers are hard to find, I can assure our community that we have secured the very best,” he comments. With a mix of experienced and new teachers, One Tree Hill College continues to grow while maintaining a strong and supportive environment for students and staff alike.
