OTHC Pride Week 2023

|| August 8, 2023

At One Tree Hill College, we recently celebrated Pride Week which aimed to raise understanding of LGBTQIA+ history, encourage greater inclusivity of diversity, and celebrate those who identify as LGBTQIA+ so that they can feel more comfortable with who they are. The week started off with the display of the LGBTQ+ flag on the school's flagpole, then an announcement of the events that were going to take place each day. There was also a display of Rainbow Books and graphic novels in the library. Later that week, a large bake sale was held where everyone who purchased cakes received a paper flower. This was to symbolise the theme - “flowers for everyone”, which was a way to help breakdown gender stereotypes. All of the funds we raised went directly to the Rainbow Youth, a group that supports members of the rainbow community by providing them with counselling services in an effort to help them succeed in life, and help them feel safer about who they are.
