For many years now, the Rotary Club of Penrose have sponsored One Tree Hill College’s head students an Outward Bound course to improve and developed their leadership abilities and skills. Last year’s Head Girl, Courtney Matthew’s has just returned from completing her course and was a recent special guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Penrose's weekly breakfast. Courtney provided the members with an update on her just completed course. She told the members about her experience with great enthusiasm and acknowledged her gratitude for having been able to take the course.

Courtney told her audience that it had been a really incredible experience, and that she had never experienced anything like it. She added. “On the course there were so many challenges that took me out of my comfort zone. It was so fulfilling. This life changing experience was only possible because of the generosity of the Rotary Club of Penrose, and I would like to thank them so much for making this happen”. Rotary Club Secretary Ann Dunphy (who had arranged for the talk) said, "Courtney gave a very informative talk and everyone found her reflections of her adventure very interesting.” This year Courtney is attending Auckland University and is doing a conduit Political Science -International Affairs & Business course. We wish her well.
