MABUHAY Filipino Language Week 2016

|| October 14, 2016

Vibrant as always, One Tree Hill College acknowledges cultural diversity as a strength to connect and learn. The Filipino community celebrates its language week on the 10-14th October. School-wide, students are introduced to common Tagalog words and phrases that connect Filipinos all over the world. Mag-aral ng mabuti (Study hard),Tagumpay ko’y tagumpay mo rin (Your success is mine as well),Hinto at ngumiti (Stop and smile), Sisikapin ko (I will try my best), Kumusta and Mabuhay (how are you/hello) and Maraming salamat (thank you very much) are fondly spoken around the school.  Filipino students lead the junior and senior assemblies with an accent on the regional dialects widely spoken in their country.  It is followed by a presentation of the many places to visit and explore like Mt Mayon, Banaue Rice Terraces, Vigan, Boracay and Palawan. Likewise, Filipino and other Asian students will host the school’s celebration of World Teachers Day on the 28th October.  This special event aims to recognise the important roles played by teachers in students’ achievement. Authentic Filipino and other Asian food and delicacies will also be showcased that day.
